  2. Definitions Pandemic An epidemic (a sudden outbreak) that becomes very widespread and affects a whole region, a continent, or the world. Epidemic An epidemic affects more than the expected number of cases of disease occurring in a community or region during a given period of time. A sudden severe outbreak within a region or a group. Endemic An endemic is present in a community at all times but in low frequency. An endemic is continuous as in the case of malaria in some areas of the world.

  3. Influenza Respiratory Infection Transmission:Contact with respiratory secretions from an infected person who is coughing and sneezing. Incubation Period:1 to 5 days from exposure to onset of symptoms. Communicability:Maximum 1 to 2 days before to 4 to 5 days after onset of symptoms. Timing:Peak usually occurs December through March in North America.

  12. What prompted this type of plan? Interagency Advisory on Pandemic Influenza Preparedness FDIC FIL-25-2006; OCC 2006-12; OTS #237 (Issued March 15, 2006). The Advisory tasked us with creating a Pandemic Influenza Plan. The Pandemic Influenza Plan will be an addition to our Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

How will we handle the loss of people and services, instead of equipment? What do we anticipate to be the impact on our Human Resources policies?   14. Activating Plan in Phases This is how we will activate the plan: Phase One: Current Situation Phase Two: Epidemic in Foreign Location Phase Three: Outbreak in the U.S. Phase Four: Outbreak Affects Critical Infrastructure Phase Five: After the Worst of the Outbreak

  15. Phase OneCurrent Situation Limit planning to stockpiling basic supplies. Hand sanitizer Kleenex tissues Latex gloves Etc.

  16. Phase TwoEpidemic in foreign location Briefings held with staff (discuss HR policies) Hold Staff meetings to review Pandemic HR policies. Discuss what staffing changes to be made. Identify what services to reduce or suspend.

  22. Pandemic Human Resources Policies During outbreak, several policies willgo into effect, including: Staffing and scheduling Compensation Staff communication

  23. Staffing and Scheduling All face to face meetings will be canceled when we reach Phase Three. Employee movement between departments will be limited in an effort to decrease exposure. Employee showing signs of illness will be sent home immediately. Any employee witnessing a fellow employee showing flu like symptoms should notify their supervisor immediately.

  24. Staffing and Scheduling If you are ill or suspect you are ill with the flu you should stay home. All staff members able to work will be split into "shifts" to ensure that there are enough employees to cover critical business process. Employees able to work from home will be instructed to do so. This may be an on again off again solution to cover needed positions at the bank. Bank hours will be changed to: Drive up: [type in details] Lobby: [type in details]

  25. Compensation Management and ownership understand that financial hardship will be a concern for all staff members.   26. Staff Communication The bank is committed to ongoing and open communications with all staff members during times of crisis. In the event of a pandemic outbreak a voice mail [type in details] will be setup for all employees to report their status. The voice mail will be monitored to ensure there are enough employees to cover the needed positions at the bank. The bank is committed to maintain constant truthful communication.
