4 x 4 Block Schedule – Pros: • More credits / more college prep classes • Go at own pace • More efficient classroom time • Able to advance to higher level in curriculum • Have time to repeat • Very few fail to graduate because of credits
4 x 4 Block Schedule – Cons: • Fast pace • Balancing issues/potential overload • May have gap between Math and World Language
High School Requirements • 4 Years of English • 2 Years of Math (Must pass Alg.1/Int.mathI and Geom./Int.mathII or higher) • 3 Years of Social Science: • World Studies or AP European History--Sophomore Year • US History or AP US History--Junior Year • AP or regular Government/Economics--Senior Year • 2 Years of Science: • 1 Life Science (Biology) • 1 Physical Science (Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics)

Most Commonly Asked Questions • How do I handle requesting a change after the initial submission of courses? A: Hold off until you obtain course confirmation information in late spring. If changes are desired you will have an opportunity to fill out a “request for class change” form at that time.

What to do if you do not have a registration instruction packet? IF your son/daughter is attending Cavitt or Olympus, make sure you check with them as they received a packet in class last week. ALL OTHERS… Download the Registration Instructions from the GBHS webiste at www.granitebayhigh.org If questions or challenges, contact our Registrar Kelley Zorio via email at kzorio@rjuhsd.us and she will guide you through the process. This should be done ASAP – preferrably tomorrow.
