Klimit of C110 in NACE A sln Status • Klimit is still controversial but its importance may grow up in the future • Recommendation in the new revision of the NACE TM0177 • Two specific cases will bring arguments pro or against Klimit • Klimit as function of the specimen size • Klimit as function of the initial crack length Work scop • Comparison of Klimit of C110 in NACE A slnobtained using different sizes of specimens • Standard size Chevron notch without precracking • Standard size Chevron notch with precraking: planar strain • Subsize Chevron notch without precracking

Klimit of C110 in NACE A sln Conclusions • No influence of precracking on K1ssc • Klimit sub < Klimit std • Means that Klimit is not independent of the specimen size • Still some pending question about Klimit • variation of KIapplied by δ is not equivalent to a variation of KIapplied by ai • KIapplied does not control alone KISSC • KIappliedis not the key factor to explain the influence of the arm displacement on KISSC • New tests….follow up at June 2013 meeting • Using longer precracking • To confirm 1st results
