Point of view • 1st person-Narrator tells the story as if it really happened to him/her and uses pronoun “I” fairly often. “I remember the first time I ever saw Sally.” • 2nd person-narrator gives a lot of commands as he uses the pronoun “you” quite often (You must remember that it is your best interest to learn how to cook before you graduate from high school.) This point of view is rarely seen in short stories or novels. • 3rd person limited-narrator telling story can nearly always only tell us the story from viewpoint of one character’s thoughts and feelings “He felt sick to his stomach after finding out what Gen. Zaroff intended to do.” • 3rd person omniscient- narrator knows what every character is thinking/feeling and tells us about various characters’ thoughts as he tells the story.

25. Point of view in “…Game” • Third Person (Limited) • Because we are looking at a Third Person Limited narrative, we really only know Rainsford’s thoughts. And only when Rainsford “escapes” near the end do we get a glimpse of Zaroff’s thoughts: “Two slight annoyances kept him from perfect enjoyment. One was the thought that it would be difficult to replace Ivan; the other was that his quarry had escaped him; of course, the American hadn't played the game—so thought the general, as he tasted his after-dinner liqueur .” • Other than that, we’re with Rainsford. Overall, story is third person limited

Also look at what kind of non fiction it is, and this one is a personal narrative about two 12 year old boys who feel they are “ugly.”
