ANSWER: Occupational Hearing Loss - • When claimant is disabled due to occupational hearing : • Pay Rate Date = DOI, DDB, or DOR (whichever is greatest) • SA Start Date = MMI • When there is no disability, claimant has continuing exposure: • Pay Rate Date = DOI (DOI = DLE = date of last exposure before diagnostic exam - audiogram) • SA Start Date = MMI • When there is no disability, retired: • Pay Rate Date = DOI • (DOI = date of retirement or last documented date of exposure to hazardous noise) • SA Start Date = MMI=date of last audiogram • Pay rates are discussed in detail in FECA PM 2-0900, and Exhibit 1 of FECA PM 2-0900 provides specific guidance on determining pay rate effective dates for schedule awards.
