General Notes for all AP/IB LEA Coordinators • DPI relies on the one LEA contact for AP/IB for communication. • PLEASE share information with school level principals and coordinators, counselors, etc. • Establish patterns of communication for data gathering. Clear contact for LEA; Clear contact for schools. • Ideas to improve?
AP/IB Test Fee Grant - USED • No official news yet from USED. April? • Cost-sharing, more than likely. Not full funding for eligible students this year • AP predicts approx. $20/exam. • DPI is looking into other funding. • LEAs are looking into other funding. • Critical: Make sure we are all not paying! • Even for last year, DPI paid for all low-income students’ exams. Reimburse families, make sure not double-pay.
Cont’ AP/IB Test Fee Grant • Which students are eligible? • Students taking AP and/or IB exams • Low-income based on Form 1 OR Form 2 • How does my LEA and schools get access to these funds? • Submit the DRAFT Application for Participation, due end of March. May change. One per LEA. • So, what should LEAs do regarding payment? Local decision; Be understanding of families and remember payment is postponed by College Board.
Cont’ AP/IB Test Fee Grant • Review Guidelines. • New FINAL Application for Participation will be due right before grant is due. If there is a grant! Document. • In summer, Final Assurances and Invoices will be due. Invoice, bottom half is for DPI and is subtracted from your total. • Last year, over $800,000!
AP/IB Course Codes • Transition to Powerschool, it’s a great opportunity to align all AP and IB course codes. • Goal: Ensure course codes represent AP and IB effectively. • Courses that lead to advanced performance and exams
