  7. New World Definition: Europeans called the North and South American continents during the 14oos. Sentence: The Spanish invaded the New World and forced all natives to be Catholic.

  8. Missionaries Definition: People who travel to other territories in order to make them convert (change) religion. Sentence: The Spanish missionaries forced natives to be Catholic.

  10. Conquistador Definition: Spanish Soldiers-explorers who conquered Mexico and Peru. Sentence: The Spanish conquistadors invaded the New World and forced all natives to be Catholic.

  11. Colony Definition: A new settlement or territory established and governed by a country from another land. Sentence: Colonies were created by European countries in North and South America.

  12. Slavery Definition: The treatment of people as property for the purpose of forcing them to labor. People who are denied freedom. Sentence: The Spanish conquistadors forced native Americans into slavery.

  14. Trappers Definition: Adventurers who capture and kill animals, such as beavers for fur. Sentence: French trappers made tons of money by bringing fur over to Europe to make coats.
