HOW TO ATTRACT THE RIGHT SECTORAL PARTNERS Step 1- Publicity through • Centre’s Website • Several Stakeholders meetings • Alumni (National and International) • Relevant Professional Bodies (Nigeria Computer Society, Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria etc.) • Academic Partners Step 2: Selection Process • Expression of Interest Form • Technical Committee (TC) to evaluate and shortlist • Meetings with the shortlisted Partners • Centre Management Board- Consideration and Approval of TC’s report • Final approval by the Governing Board
HOW TO ATTRACT THE RIGHT SECTORAL PARTNERS Step 3: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) • Review of draft MoU • Issues with respect to IP (IPTTO office) • Meetings with Partner(s) • Signing of MoU • University Management involvement during stakeholders meetings is very important • Provision of enabling environment ( offices, research facilities, etc.) by the Centre • 3 of our sectoral partners were involved in developing the proposal and the implementation plan

RESULTS • Donation of Digital Libraries - worth $450,000 + Funds to support spin-off companies (NITDA) – Government Agency in Nigeria • Provision of additional power backups and Internet facilities (Nigerian Communications Commission) – Government Agency • 34 Faculty and 68 Students benefitted from Internship ( MainOne, Chams, Sidmach, CHEC, CBC EMEA etc.) • Guest House for researchers ( CBC EMEA) • 3 ICT companies applied as Anchor Tenants • Engineering lab equipment for teaching and research - Quanser – Canadian based IT/Engineering company • Instructors for short term training courses - IBM
