(KENNESAW MOUNTAINHIGH SCHOOL) Georgia High School Graduation Diagnostic Testing Fall 2008
Purpose of Diagnostic Testing • To give students an opportunity to understand the types of questions they will encounter during spring graduation testing • To identify skills or knowledge where individual students might need further instruction to be successful on the test • Provide parents with information about how they can help their child prepare for spring testing • To help Kennesaw Mountainidentify and plan for students who might need extra academic support in English/Language Arts or Math prior to spring testing
Diagnostic Testing Details • Tests in Math and ELA were designed by Cobb Curriculum Supervisors • Administered to 11th graders in September and October of 2008 • Testing experience was similar to what students will have next spring

Our Plan • Our Parents will receive their student’s results from the Diagnostic test via the mail. • Our students will receive their test results in homeroom. • We will offer tutorial opportunities for our students before/after school. See our website for tutorial information. • Students will be able to use computer testing programs such as My Skills Tutor, USA Test prep Online testing, and Online Assessment Software.
Using the data from our Diagnostic Test: A GHSGT Math prep course will be offered second semester for students in need. All students with a 75% or less on the ELA or Math sections will be given the Diagnostic exam again in January. Students who score 72% or less on the 2nd Diagnostic exam will be expected to attend specialized tutorial sessions from February to March. The specialized tutorial sessions will focus on specific student weaknesses identified by the Diagnostic exam. More About Our Plan
