What are Brachipods? Brachipods are marine animals which are often mistaken and compared to clams. They are actually quite different though. • Very cold waters, often in polar regions or great depths in the ocean on rocky, sandy, or muddy floors • Flourished in the Cambrian and Ordovician periods- 540 million years ago • Suspension eaters- extract food (plankton, particles or dead organic mattrer, etc.) out of water and pump it in and out of their shells • Predators include echinoderms, crustaceans, gastropods, cephalopods and fish • Body is a shell that has two valves made out of muscle
What areTrilobites? Trilobites are marine animals, which were among the Earth’s early anthropoids. They are hard shelled creatures with multiple body segments and jointed legs. • Lives anywhere in the ocean in any climate • Ate worms • Predators include nautiloids, sea scropions, crustaceans, anomacocabids • Existed in the Cambrian and Ordovician times- 540 millions years ago • Paleozoic- age of Trilobites
