BACKGROUND • Launched in Houston in 2007 - 2,600 area kids registered • 11,232 Houston area youth registered to participate in the program in 2008 • Expanded to four cities, 27,389 kids registered to participate in Houston in 2009 • Approximately 66,247 youth participating in 14 cities with 37,864 here in Houston in 2010 • Around 120,533 youth participating in 31 cities with 54,110 here in Houston in 2011 • 57,848 youth participated in Houston with 34,002 from HISD schools 2012 • 52,667 youth participated in Houston with 37,217 from HISD schools 2013

BACKGROUND • Serving UP Lemonade • Pilot Program launched with HISD: 4,383 sixth graders on 33 campuses in 2011 • 15,050 HISD sixth & seventh grade students on 35 campuses in 2012 • 19,443 HISD sixth, seventh & eighth grade students on 30 campuses in 2013

Easy STEPS TO SUCCESS • Reach out to district principals to determine level of interest. (Recommended for elementary and middle schools. High School students can benefit by serving as mentors) • Principals assign a “campus coordinator” to serve as point of contact. • Campus coordinators identify teachers/classes to participate in Serving Up Lemonade • Campus coordinators educate colleagues about Serving Up Lemonade – FAQ Sheet / Flyer • Coordinators distribute classroom roster/registration forms to each participating teacher
Easy STEPS TO SUCCESS • Coordinators collect all completed registration forms/class rosters – Please return forms/rosters as soon as possible. • Return to: Lemonade Day Houston • Attn: Nora Bushat nbush@lemonadeday.org • Receive & distribute Serving Up Lemonade backpacks – prior to March 1, 2014 • Follow-up with participating teachers and share the curriculum timeline and teacher’s guide • Coordinate Lemonade Day Activities on Campus (Spring Carnival/Cinco de Mayo Festivities / Early Release Events / Etc.) – campuses have flexibility – some host events as early as mid April and as late as the last week of school. Most will use May 2, 2014. • Encourage students to participate (with parent / guardian) on actual • Lemonade Day, Sunday, Lemonade Day May 4, 2014.
ClASSROOM ROSTER/ REGISTRATION FORM Simple Registration Process • Basic Excel spreadsheet can be sent to teachers electronically by Coordinators • Teachers complete the form for their participating classes and return to Campus Coordinator. • Campus Coordinator will forward rosters / registration forms to Lemonade Day at nora@lemonadeday.org • Campus Coordinators should retain copies of registration forms to insure smooth backpack distribution at their school. • Return completed forms to Lemonade Day as soon as possible.
