Thesis (5 points) 3. Does the thesis statement come at the end of the introduction? 4. Does the thesis statement take a clear stance on the issue? What is their stance? 5. Does the information in the introduction lead up to the thesis statement effectively? How do you know?
Body Paragraph Structure (20 points) 6. Do the body paragraphs use the MEL-Con format correctly? 7. Do they contain transitional phrases? Write down their transitional phrases. Are they redundant? 8. Does the Con statement transition into the next paragraph? How do you know?
Examples/Evidence (25 points) 9. Does the writer use specific (quotes, etc.) examples/evidence from the text? Write them down. 10. Do the examples clearly and concisely fit the argument (thesis)? How do you know?
