2. Chapter One _______________Stolen “That was a cool show about how to make pennies last night,” Katie said to Hadley and I as we walked down the street. “Yeah, it’s so cool that they will make new pennies this year,” I said, as we turned onto my street. “Hi Maria,” I said, as I saw my friend walking down the sidewalk. “Hi Megan,” she said. “What do you have there?”I said, pointing at her wagon, which had a cloth over something tall, thin, and rectangular. “Um, nothing. Got to go, bye!” Said Maria quickly. “What was that all about?” asked Hadley, as we watched Maria run down the street. “I have no idea.” Just then we were at my house, when I tried the door it was unlocked “Mom must have taken off work,” I said.

3. “Hey Mom I`m home!” I called without looking. “Oh my gosh! Someone broke in!” We walked into the living room. There was a man in there! He was wearing a ski mask, had a band aid on his arm, and had a baseball bat in his gloved hands. He took one look at us, turned around, broke the window, jumped out, and ran away. We called my mom on the phone. “Hello Megan. I`m really busy right now, so what do you want?” she asked. “Someone broke in!” I screamed.

4. “Oh my gosh! I`ll be right there,” she said anxiously, then she hung up. “Oh crud. He stole the flat screen!” I gasped, then I ran upstairs to my room. “The robber better not have stolen my lucky Jack card!” I said angrily. I was very relieved when I saw the card lying on my dresser. About 20 minutes later my mom got home. “Are you kids ok?” she asked. “Yeah, we`re fine mom,” I said. “Good, I`ll go call the police.” “We`ll go look for clues.”

5. Chapter Two__________________________ Maria We went outside and started looking for clues. “Look!”I said. “It’s wet foot prints from the sewer on the street.” “And it looks like its size five!”said Katie. “Lets think of people that we know that have a size five shoe.” I said. “Um… Maria, Corey, and Ricky.” “Ok, let’s go.”I said. “Hi kids!” said Maria’s mom when she opened the door. “Hi Mrs. Morresi,” said Katie “Is Maria there?” I asked.

6. “Yes, she is in the backyard,” she said. We went to the backyard and found Maria playing with a ball. “Hi Maria,” I said casually. “Hey guys what’s up?” “We were just wondering if we could ask you some questions.” “Sure,” she said. “Ok, what was in the wagon?” “Girl scout cookies,” she said. “Then why did you get all weird when we asked you earlier?” I questioned.

7. “Because Ricky dared me to act weird when anyone asked me something,” she said. “Ok where were you today?”asked Katie. “Out selling girl scout cookies.” “Can we come in?”asked Hadley. “Sure!” We went inside and she showed us around. After a while we decided to leave. “Do you want some gum?”she asked. “No thanks,” I said and we ran out the door.

8. Chapter Three_____________________Corey We ran to Corey`s house and knocked on the door. “Come in!”he called. “Hi Corey,” I said when we came in. “Hi,” he said with a happy smile. I noticed he had a band aid on his arm. “We need to ask you some questions,” I said. “Ok, go ahead,” Corey challenged. “What happened to your arm?” “Ricky pushed me.” “Ok, where were you today?” I asked. “Here, I’ve been sick all week.” “Ok, we have to go,” I said, and we ran out the door.

9. Chapter four____________________________Ricky It was dark, so we went home and went to bed. The next day…. “Megan! Megan! I found a clue!” Katie yelled, running toward me. “Let me see,” I demanded. It was a signed receipt. Signed by…….. Ricky! “We have to interrogate him,” said Hadley. “Ok, lets go!” I said When we got to Ricky’s house he opened the door. “Hi Ricky, we have to ask you some questions,” I said.

10. “Oka-a-y ,come in,” Ricky said with a confused look on his face. “Where were you yesterday?” Katie asked. “I was at my house watching ‘The Penny Show’,” he said. “Its so cool how they made pennies this year.” “Ok, that’s all bye!” I said, and we ran out the door. Once we were at my house I pulled out my phone and called the police. Then we watched them arrest Ricky for robbing my house. He gave himself away when he gave incorrect information about ‘The Penny Show’.

11. EpilogueRicky “So, yeah I'm in prison now. All I wanted was a new flat screen TV. I regret nothing! But let me tell you, it won’t be pretty when I get out of this place!” “You’re not getting out this is a life sentence” “You’re right, I’m a failure!”
