About 100 years ago, a missionary couple came from America to a remotest part of Japan…
They were fascinated by the beauty of the hills, the flowers and the people.
The Piersons in kimonos, a gift of love and appreciation from the local people.
From their home, they were able to see the Christian pioneer settlement in the distance.
Their house became a house of prayer for the pioneers and the local people.
The Piersons dedicated themselvesto the education of the people.
They published annotated translations of the Old and New Testament into the Japanese language.
This Gospel of John was being translated, interestingly with some help from Singapore.
This plate was found in their homein Kitami, far away from their home in USA.
Mr. Ikeda Masanobu, a volunteer in the Pierson Memorial House. He was the one who invited me to visit this awesome place!
A constant stream of about 6,000 visitors passed through this door every year. Free Admission.
