PSCG Values Relating To AEO Programs • committed to widespread, harmonized implementation of national AEO programs, and mutual recognition • AEO programs must be voluntary, not mandatory • AEO benefits must be: • tangible, • clearly defined, • measurable and reportable, and • in addition to normal levels of service provided to non-AEOs 4

  5. PSCG Achievement: AEO Benefits • AEO benefits paper presented to WCO Policy Commission and SAFE Working Group – PSCG response to question “ what does business want?” • mutual recognition of AEO status at the top of the list • now part of WCO SAFE Package 5

  6. Business Support for Trusted Trader/AEO • concern with development of different AEO programs • mutual recognition must deliver benefits to business, not only customs • alignment of import, export, security and compliance requirements • trusted trader programs: “are they worth it”? 7
