Comparison of Methods • Very similar in areas of evaluation • Focus on communication skills, cognitive, and affective domains • Usually well accepted and learner satisfier • Support adult learning theory • Both poor for validity, reliability, efficiency, generalizability • Both difficult to evaluate without well constructed rubric
Comparison of Methods • Neither method is ideal without much consideration of the objectives and desired outcomes • Participation of learners is crucial for optimal evaluation data • Require skill of the educator • Most effective when used in conjunction with other methods • More ideal as teaching methods
