What is CamStudio? • A technology that is capable of streaming free videos through recording all screen and audio activity on a computer. • Creates AVI files using a SWF Producer • AV1 files are audio-video files • SWF is a shock-wave file which creates animated vector graphics
History • Originally designed as an open source in 2001 by RenderSoft. • An updated version (version 2.1) was created in 2003 by eHelp Corporation. • The current version (version 2.0) was released in 2007 as a free software.
Possible Uses of CamStudio • Create demonstration videos for software programs. • Create video tutorials for school or university classes. • Create informational videos for marketing. • Record tricks and techniques of using other software programs so you will not forget how to use them.

Limitations • Some computers may experience problems when trying to view videos on certain web browsers. • Ex. Firefox, Netscape • May cause issues with computer’s memory and have to reboot computer • Once you create your video you cannot edit the video
