Newsletter No 11 March 24th 2010 Dear Parents/ Carers I thought you might appreciate a quick reminder about the events that are happening prior to the end of term so here goes! Bonnets and Eggs Don’t forget to bring decorated eggs into school by 10 am on Wednesday so that they can be displayed and judged. Reception and KS 1 children should make their bonnets at home-not re-cycled. KS 2 children will make their re-cycled hats at school with some support from the PA. Thanks to the merry band for volunteering! Norah Blagburn and Annie Linden will be judging the hats. Mrs McGrath will judge the eggs- no bribes please! The parade starts at 9.30amThursday 1st April, but please join us beforehandto have a coffee and a hot cross bun. Cycling Proficiency Well done to the Year 6 cyclists who battled through terrible weather conditions throughout most of the course. They all achieved their silver awards. The team from Road Safety said that they were a pleasure to teach. We are very proud of them all. Attendance I am so pleased so let you know that Year 3-4 R had 100% attendance last week and so they are getting an extra playtime. Keep up the good work Miss Rowe’s class. Can any other class equal the record? Building Work Work is progressing on the new class room at the rear of the school and we are hoping to move in before the end of term. Mr Oughton is flexing his muscles in readiness for all the furniture removals! We are monitoring the health and safety aspects of the work very carefully but if you spot anything out of order please let me know. School Uniform We try to encourage all the children to have pride in wearing our uniform and being part of our school. Most of the children comply and this actually does help to foster a Sense of School. However we have all noticed that an increasing amount of children and in particular Year five and six girls are wearing clothes that are not of a uniform style. I know that girls do become very fashion conscious at an early age but I would be grateful if parents/ carers tried to stick to the school uniform or similar. For example full length trousers not three quarter ones. Thank you for your cooperation in this. Whitley Abbey Primary School
