The Boxer Rebellion • Group of peasants gathered together to rid China of foreigners and Eliminate the Ch’ing Dynasty • Killed Christians and other Europeans • 2,100 American, British, Russian, French, Italian, and Japanese soldiers were sent to subdue the "rebellion.“ • Members of the secret society practiced boxing and calisthenic rituals (hence the nickname, the "Boxers") which they believed would make them impervious to bullets.

  4. End of the Dynasties • People became angry with high taxes • In 1911, the last dynasty (led by a boy emperor)was overthrown • There were many problems in the new republic
