KS2 SATs were not taken this summer. The Background 2009 • Number of students entering with 5,5,5 • 24 2010 • Number of students entering with 5,5,5 • 45 (20% of year group) • This will be the number of straight A*/A’s we will be expected to achieve in 2015.
So What Did We Do? • ALFIE tests for all Y7, along with a written paper in Maths and English. • Marks fed into central data base for analysis. • Comparison made between ALFIE scores and TA’s. • Broad correlation between two.
What Happened Next • Waited for the first progress check in October to analyse all the subjects. • Consulted our heads of department. • Formed an ALPHA working party to include KS3 coordinators and heads of department. • Launched ALPHA group after Christmas.
What we Want For this Group • Stretch and challenge. • Gifted and talented opportunities. • Create a success culture. • Create independent and creative study skills. • Big focus on homework and frequency of feedback. • Thorough dealing with non conformers. • Ideally stay together for 5 years.
Future Plans • Meet with parents. • Monitoring visits in February. • HoD’s to focus on the achievement of the ALPHA group after February half term. • Annual review of the group. • Enhancing curriculum provision for ALPHA group. • Building higher aspirations; university visits. • Look at developing this ideas in other years.
