3. に • Technical: direction marker • Basic: describes movement to the noun • Similar to ‘to’ or ‘onto’ in English • Examples • おおさか　に　行きます。To go to Osaka • でんしゃ　に　のります。To get onto the train

4. に • Technical: specific time marker • Basic: tells a specific time • Similar to ‘at’ or ‘on’ in English • Examples • ７時におきます。I wake up at 7. • 月曜日にサッカー　を　します。（I）play soccer on Monday.

5. で • Technical: location marker • Basic: describes where an action is occurring • Similar to ‘at’ in English • Examples • うみで　およぎます。To swim at the beach. • いえで　たべます。To eat at home. • Hint: Ask ‘verb where?’ Swim where? Swim at the beach

6. で • Technical: means marker • Basic: indicates the means or method • Similar to ‘by’ or ‘in’ in English • Examples • バスで行きます。To go by bus. • 日本語ではなします。To speak in Japanese • Hint: Ask ‘verb where?’ Swim where? Swim at the beach

7. は • Technical: topic marker • Basic: describes who (or what) the sentence is about • Examples • 私　は　うみで　およぎます。I swim at the beach. • ダニェル　は　うるさい　です。Daniel is loud.
