  2. LESSON ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How do I avoid getting hurt in lab?

  3. NO horsing around in the laboratory area.

  4. Always wear goggles….. Or you may end up with a chemical burn…..

  5. Know the locations of safety equipment.

  6. What NOT to do with a fire blanket!

  7. Never leave your Bunsen burner unattended. Tie your hair back if it is long.

  8. Report any accident to your teacher.

  9. 6. Be prepared for your experiment. Read your procedure before you come to class.

  10. 7. No one can work WITHOUT the teacher present. WORK WITHOUT TEACHER

  11. 8. NO food or drink in the laboratory area.

  12. Never perform unauthorized experiments in the chemistry lab.

  13. Be a good housekeeper.

  14. Always be positive that it is safe to put something in the sink or in the regular trash container.

  15. Wash your hands after performing all experiments.

  16. Never return unused chemicals to the original container.

  17. Read your chemical labels.

  18. Explanation of MSDS Symbols

  19. Examine glassware for cracks.

  20. Do not put hot glassware in cold water.

  21. Hot glassware looks the same when cold. Don’t burn yourself.

  22. Never look into the top of a container or test tube when it is being heated.
