Definitions Automatic Initial Distribution (AID) AID is the automatic issue, in predetermined quantities, of new or revised map, chart and related products by NIMA to customers with established AID accounts. All Pacific Fleet commands identified in the 3140.3A will be provided AID service for all allowance items. 1.6-10

Definitions Portfolio Designations - As established by NIMA, nautical chart coverage of the world is divided into 52 geographical sub-regions as shown in CATP2V01U with each sub-region being assigned a two-digit portfolio number. The portfolios consist of charts with either “A”, “B”, or “X” designation. 1.6-11

  22. Definition Rotating/Non-Rotating - Rotating ships routinely deploy to WESTPAC and are allocated both EAST and WEST Pacific products. Non rotating ships are not normally rotated out of their area of operations and are allocated more limited allowance items. 1.6-22

Obtaining Products Day-to-Day Orders • Must have established DoDAAC/ FEDAAC to place order • Catalogs/Semi-Annual Bulletins/Gateways for NIMA reference #’s or National Stock Numbers (NSN) • Priority: • Force Activity Designator (FAD) determines authorized priority • Service/Local procedures dictate requisitioning methods 1.6-25

Automatic Distribution (AD) • Ensures users automatically obtain the latest edition of NIMA products • Imperative for updating safety of flight information • Receive new products right after production • To establish/change an AD account you must complete the format letter and fax to DLA at (804)279-6510 or DSN 695-6510 • Format letter on DSCR’s homepage under ordering information menu • Call (804)279-6596 or DSN 695-6596 after faxing to ensure it was received • Account revalidations occur annually 1.6-32
