Paolucci & Scott Hughes Members: • Ron Slosberg – Owner L&S Energy Systems, M.S. in Engineering From MIT, NYSERDA contract Specialist • Alan Belensz – New York State Environmental Scientist at DEC, Current Chief of Climate Science and Technology Office, M.S. from UNC • William A. Connor - Licensed Architect, LEED Certified, Principal of Woodward Connor Gillies & Seleman Architects. Responsible for “Green” library design & construction. • Bill Butler - Marketing Director for CT Male and Associates Engineering, MBA from Monmouth University, Principal organizer of Babe Ruth World Series Tournaments • Joanne Coons – Earth Science Teacher Shenendehowa High School, Environmental Advocate, SCARE Club advisor, Uses Solar energy to heat her home

Member of Open Space Committee, permanently protected 93 acres and utilizes eco-friendly Geothermal heating in her home. • James Romano – 32 Years in National Grid Management, Former member of Town Planning Board;(1994-2000), Co chair Open Space, Trails and Riverfront Committee, (2000-present) Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce Board (1991-2003). • Duncan Watt – G.E. Materials Engineer, Environmental Specialist • Rick Kukuk – Highway Superintendent, 25 years Verizon Communications Mgt Team • Patricia O’Donnell – Town Clerk • Student Members – Shenendehowa SCARCE (Students Concerned About "R" Crippled Environment) Club, High school recycling Program, Saratoga Community Green Project • Samhita Bhat • Lisa Hartman • Rebecca Slosberg

Mission: • The Town will provide comprehensive leadership in its role to continuously address energy use and environmental impacts in all facets of Town Government, and will foster education and community awareness to promote informed actions we all can take to reduce the consumption of our limited natural resources, now and in the future. November 2007

In support of its mission the committee determined that it should explore and investigate opportunities that would fall into two broad categories, • Leadership- Specific actions that town could take to reduce its impact on the environment • Advocacy- Promote actions that all citizens could participate in to provide a multiplier effect to the overall impact to the environment

  7. Carbon Emissions: • Greenhouse Gases – are primarily Carbon Dioxide, and are measurements used in Climate Change studies. • Carbon dioxide is produced by generating electricity, largely from burning fossil fuels. • Carbon dioxide is present in vehicle exhaust emissions.

  9. CARBON EMISSIONS SOURCES • Buildings – homes, schools and offices that we live and work in everyday equal 70% of all emissions • Transportation and Vehicles we travel in cars, buses, trucks, trains contribute to 30% of all emissions

  14. AUDIT Recommendations: Cost Savings & Energy Conservation Measures • COST = $86,000 • ANNUAL SAVINGS = $18,711 • IMPROVEMENT PAYBACK in 5 YEARS OR LESS • ANNUAL CARBON DIOXIDE OUTPUT REDUCED BY • 54 tons/year
