  3. The UHS Day • Everyone starts at 8:00 a.m. • Closed lunch hour and reading for all 9th and 10th graders • Choice of 7 or 8 period day for all students • Study halls only for seniors • Students run on individual schedules, not teams

  4. 7-period Day 8:00 a.m. to 2:18 p.m. 5 academics + PE + lunch 6 credits per semester 8-period Day 8:00 a.m. to 3:08 p.m. 6 academics + PE + lunch 7 credits per semester 7 or 8 Periods?

Special Education/Support Services • Instructional Courses: Taught by special education teachers, these courses are aligned to meet core requirements and some electives. • Educational Support Class: Replaced “Resource,” this is a combination of teaching students better study skills and assisting them with daily work from classes.

  24. Special Education/Support Services • The Learning Center: Available each period as a “drop in” room for students who receive special education services and need assistance with tests and/or coursework during the the time they are scheduled in general education class.

Registration Info • Teachers will give recommendations for core course selections. • Registration is done in small group settings. • Students have a copy of their choices for parent review. • Current 8th graders will register at UMS on Feb.12 • Current UHS students will register throughout February.
