How much and from what? • as late as 1940, 90 percent of Vermont's needs were met by stations operating solely on water power • In 1999 29.4% of our power was hydroelectric • 10.8% was from utilities • 18.7% was from non-utilties • Today Vermont uses 1000 mw a day

Some VT Hydro Stations Comerford Station whose four large generators produce 164 megawatts of power
The Vernon station whose eight turbines produce 22 megawatts of electric power
The Bellows Falls station whose three generating units draw on water flowing through the historic 1791 canal and produce 49 megawatts of electric power
The Wilder station, consisting of a 2,900‑feet long dam and three generators which produce 42 megawatts of power;
The Moore Station, the largest hydro-generating facility on the Connecticut River which encompasses a 3,490‑acre storage reservoir and whose power output totals 192 megawatts
McIndoes Station whose 13 megawatts of power serve primarily to smooth the uneven water flows which result from the Comerford station’s operation
Government Model of Hydro Resources in VT • There are 29 dams that produce power with a potential of 62.9 mw and modeled 31.8mw • There are 70 dams without power with a potential of 261.4 mw and modeled 131.1mw • There are 50 undeveloped sites with a potential of 90.1 mw and modeled 11.7mw
Semi Current Events • VT had a chance to buy 8 hydro dams in VT • 2 on the Deerfield River and 6 on the Connecticut River • Total of 527mw or 50% of our power
