Membership Requirements • Every new member is required to tryout • Every player is evaluated on - Plate Work – head stability, timing, strike zone consistency, game management, knowledge and rules - Base Work – timing, mechanics, positioning, non verbal communication • If accepted every new member must a attend a mandatory clinic every year for 4 years
Membership • Every member must pass a yearly NCAA required test and receive 80% or higher • All members must a attend a mandatory two day clinic/meeting on new rules, rule interpretation, and mechanics,
Why Is CBUA Better - Strengths • Training – Every member is trained • Andy Schultz / Chris Hubler – Professional umpire consultants and advisors to CBUA • Chris - 3 years head instructor for Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring • Andy - Director of player development for PBUC – Professional Baseball Umpires • All members receive professional training under Chris and Andy • Bob Gallagher the assignor is a board member of the association
Why Is CBUA Better - Strengths • CBUA is able to cover 100% of all assignments because the 150 members are located within the area of coverage • Many members have been selected to work post season regional playoffs and DII and DIII World Series Championships • CBUA has consistent umpire fees with all colleges • CBUA members are required to dress alike • CBUA uses an ongoing evaluation process for each game
