Current Research NCSOSE is currently engaged in a three-year, $1.6M effort aimed at improving decision-making and performance measurement within the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate. It has resulted in the creation of a methodology for performance measurement system design and deployment.
AID Problem #1 • When beginning an AID application, relevant stakeholders are prompted to define the problem to be solved. • Often times individuals think they know their problems, but analysis of strategic documents (e.g., strategic plans) proves otherwise. • There is a need for a text parsing tool to identify important themes in these strategic documents. • These themes would then be synthesized as a problem statement.
AID Problem #2 • Similarly, a set of critical issues is identified from a particular problem. • A similar parsing tool would be useful to decompose a problem into its most relevant critical issues.
Requirements Robust design Microsoft software compatible for file analysis Hosting options (web, Sharepoint, etc…) Large file storage requirement (.pdf, .ppt., .doc)
