  2. Institute of Integral Safety (IIS):History 1. The Institute was established by Order of Rector No.520 dd. 13.09.2011 that followed the decision issued by the academic council on 09.09.2011 (minutes 9). 2. The academic activity is carried out by the following departments: • Department of Civil Defense • Department of Industrial Safety • Department of Social Work and Social Security • Fire and Rescue Service Center • Engineering Center • NGO ‘Bridges of Mercy’

  3. Specialty area:Technosphere Safety • The Department of Industrial Safety is training experts in Production and Operational Safety • The Department of Civil Defense is training experts in Fire Safety; Protection in Emergency Situations

Department of Social Work and Social Security • Social Work • Arranging Youth Outreach Activities • Master’s degree program “Social Work with different population groups” • Joint International master’s degree programs “Comparative social work”, (main partner- University of Lapland), “Health and well-being in circumpolar area”(main partner- University of Oulu) in Barents- cross boarder University

Needs in new specialists of ISI The survey of human resource potential in Arkhangelsk Region showed that • Potentially hazardous production facilities annually require 15-20 graduates in Production and Operational Safetyspecialty • For civil defense and emergency management purposes the region annually required 15-20 people • For regional social sphere annually required 10-15 people

Priority Areas of Cooperation • with NArFU institutes on: • Integrated courses relating to master’s degrees (IT in social sector); • Jointly developed grant applications for master’s research programs - Improved practical training course which is jointly arranged with NArFU’s partners providing on-site training: • Internship of master’s degree students abroad
