Adequacy of Support Provided as Perceived by Head Librarians
Recommendations from Head Librarians • ADMU • Continue to encourage and support online/distance learning conferences as an additional avenue for professional development. • DLSU • Provide support for plane fare, registration fee and hotel accommodation for librarians presenting papers in international and local conferences. • Increase travel and conference subsidy for local conferences as the current subsidy being provided is no longer enough to cover transportation, accommodation and registration fees • UP • Increase travel assistance to include airfare and accommodation • Increase the number of times that librarians can avail of travel assistance • Provide funds to support other CPD activities such as on-the-job training, benchmarking and team building.
Conclusions Despite the perceived inadequacy of financial and administrative support that Filipino librarians get from their respective institutions, they strongly believe that engaging in CPD activities is a moral obligation, thus they continue to find ways in keeping themselves abreast of the trends and advancements in the field.
