R - Reliability • What kind of information is included in the resource? • Is content presented primarily opinion or factual? Is it balanced? • Does the creator provide references or sources for data or quotations?
A - Authority • Who is the creator or author of the page? (If there is no specific author, what is the name of the organization responsible for the site? ) • What credentials does the author have? • Who is the publisher or sponsor? • Are they reputable? • What is the publisher's interest (if any) in this information?
P – Perspective/Point of View • Is this fact or opinion? • Is it biased? • Are there advertisements on the site? Is the creator/author trying to sell you something? • Based on the writing style and language used, who is the intended audience?
P – Perspective/Point of View • What is the domain extension & what does that tell you about the site? • Common Domain Name Extensions: .gov — government agencies .edu — educational institutions .org — organizations, usually non-profit .com — commercial businesses, including companies that host personal websites and blogs .mil — the military .net — organizations related to the Internet itself, such as a local Internet Service Provider .uk — Sample domain for a country, in this case the United Kingdom
