Embed sustainability in your estate strategy • Sustainable development is not limited to large scale, new build capital projects • The principles apply to small developments and routine estate / facilities management • Maintenance, change of use, conversions, extensions, internal refits or demolition

Consider the following: • Minimise energy, incl insulation and natural ventilation • Renewable energy sources, inc passive solar energy • Building layout and flexible design • Building materials, including recycled content • Water management, including drainage • Pollution and toxicity • Waste management and recycling • Biodiversity • Site waste and site management plans and • Transportation and travel plan development
