DSE Vision & Goals Vision: We are ‘The Army’s Systems Engineering Department’ educating cadets and developing faculty to lead teams that develop and implement high value solutions to future problems in a dynamic, uncertain, technologically complex world. Goals: • Be the best undergraduate SE, EM and SM programs in the country. • Be among the top 3 academic departments at USMA in terms of the number of majors. • Implement Core Engineering Sequence (CES)plan to teach systems thinking, systems decision making and project management • Be a significant resource of intellectual capital for the Army that is called upon by our senior leaders to solve problems. • Graduate cadets who are comfortable with technology and are grounded in the Systems Decision Process as a framework for problem definition, solution design, decision making, and solution implementation. • Have a diverse faculty committed to the highest standards of teaching excellence and prepared for leadership beyond West Point.
Department Programs Systems Decision Process Engineering Management: Professionals providing engineering solutions to management and leadership problems Systems Engineering: Designing Integrated Solutions to Complex Problems Core Engineering Sequence:Developing creative solutions to technical problems that effectively meet the needs of decision makers Systems Management: Decision Making for Leaders in a Technical World Research Program: Faculty and cadets supporting DoD leaders in developing innovative solutions to complex national security problems
