Early decision • A binding commitment a student makes when he/she applies to a school. If the student is accepted, he/she must attend the school
Early action • If a student sends his/her application in by an early deadline, he/she will be notified of his/her application status in December rather than in April. This decision, however, is not binding
Regular decision • Normal process by which students apply to a school by published deadlines, with promise of receiving an admissions decision by April 1
Rolling admission • Applications are reviewed as they arrive in the college’s admissions office. With this type of admissions process, the earlier an application is submitted, the better
