Formation Basics • Combination of words and letters • X is always on left of formation • Y is always on right of formation • Words tell X and Y receivers where to align • Numbers (1-9) tell Z, J and H where to align • 1st is Z, 2nd is J and 3rd is H (no 3rd number align to right) • Special Formations called by name only • Stack puts H 3 yards behind the X or Y

Play Calling • Terminology built for a no huddle style offense • Able to communicate through hand signals and code words • Terminology consists of State, City, Mascot and Colors • State names indicate passes • City names indicate runs • Mascots indicate the version of the run • Colors indicate the direction of play • Playaction would be a state followed by a city or mascot
