The colony of Georgia was founded by James Edward Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe proposed to found a colony in the region disputed between Spanish and British.
Oglethorpe got a concession by King George II in 1732, and in 1733 the first colonists came to the region. In the colony the slavery and the consumption of alcohol would be suppressed.
But Georgia couldn’t grow, and when Oglethorpe left the colony, these restrictions would be deleted.
In Texas in 1690 Spanish decided to occupy the region. When they arrived in the Neches river valley the Spanish founded two missions that were then abandoned.
In 1719 the French started a conquest mission in Eastern Texas. But in 1720 the Spanish sovereignty was established again.
For the first colonists life wasn’t easy because the region was inhabited by dangerous Indians. These and other problems stopped the growing of the colony.
