Selective breeding: • Breed the organisms with traits that we want. • Over time more of the offspring have the traits that we want.
Artificial vegetative reproduction: • Take cuttings of desirable plants and grow a new one. • Take a few cells and grow a new one in a petri dish. • Grafting involves attaching desirable branches to desirable roots. CUTTING GRAPHTING
Artificial Insemination and In vitro • Artificial insemination collects the sperm from the male and then place it in the female after she ovulates. • In Vitro, the sperm and eggs are collected and fused outside the organism. These then are placed back into a female to mature.
Hatcheries • Fish eggs are collected, fertilized, and raised until the fry are big enough to survive.
Recombinant DNA • DNA is introduced into a bacteria to make it develop what we want it to, like insulin.
