Legislation and Mandate of CSO • CSO: principal data collecting, processing, analysis and disseminating agency. • Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising National statistics System. • Statutory mandate to produce and provide stakeholders with statistical information.
Structure • Centralised structure
Statistical coordination • Establishing linkages with various entities • Influenced by the structure • Leads to maximum intergration • Leads to application of common standards • Ensure maximum cooperation • Improve awareness of the importance of statistics • Identify statistical gaps
Lincage within og & Planners • Internal communication (meetings etc0 influences the efficiency of effectiveness of activities including coordination. • Linkage with Planners (DEFP) bi-weekly meetings

Conclusion • Coordination with stakeholders at national level is satisfactory. • Collaboration with development partners concentrates on • Advocacy • Statistical capacity building and • Statistical development - is satisfactory • Collaboration with Int’ Organisation for global report data is weak and results in discrepancies in data.
Recommendations • To include collaboration with NSO’s for global report data as part of collaboration with sub-regions. • Involve countries in the preparation of the global report. • Agree on one questionnaire for the production of data for the global report. • Agree on timelines for submission of data for the global report. • Agree on one office responsible for receiving Global report data (contact Office by sub-region)
Recommendations (Cont…) • Agree on a strategy for short term attachment of NSO representatives at the global offices for hands on capacity building on global report preparation • Global office to conduct a workshop on report preparation format/ methodology at sub-regional level
