Refreshed by Forgiveness • (Psalms 32:1-5) Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered… {3} When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. {4} For day and night your hand was heavy upon me…{5} Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Thanking God for food • (Matthew 15:36) Then he [Jesus] took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. • (1 Timothy 4:3-5) …foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. {4} For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, {5} because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
Content with Essentials? • (1 Timothy 6:7-9) For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. {8} But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. {9} People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
Don’t Complain God (Philippians 2:14-15) Do everything without complaining or arguing, {15} so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
Complaints replaced with Praise Complaining • Draws attention to me • Small View – What is going on in my life now • Causes me to envy and criticize others • Discourages others – Many avoid me • Causes me to blame and resent God Praising • Draws attention to God • Large View – What God is doing for all, eternally • Causes me to love and serve others • Encourages others – Most can enjoy me • Causes me to pursue and enjoy God
