  3. Parental Feedback letters • Year 6 – last 2 years • Reception – 1 year • Standard template customised with local service information and contact details • Flyers and leaflets enclosed • Disappointing response given number of ‘overweight’ & ‘very overweight’ letters

Parental responses • Frustration at disjointed pathway • Indignation, disbelief, lack of recognition • Concern over references to health conditions • Anxiety over use of word ‘obese’ • Relief that concerns about child’s weight have been quantified • Gratitude that advice and support is available • Willingness to engage in programmes

  5. Engagement with professionals • Media – proactive PR • Raising awareness of NCMP with GPs • Programme of ‘raising the issue’ training across health, education and community workforce • Briefings with Healthy Schools coordinators and Headteachers
