Slogan: GET ALL INFORMATION IN ONE PLACE/ONE SYSTEM • Mission statement: Build the infrastructure to improve, coordinate and proactively maintain the communication between the congregations. • We believe; the foundation of communication is built upon all members, all small groups, all committees, deacon members, staff, administrator, pastor, ..etc, virtually everybody at church to contribute in their discipline to update information so that others can have a chance to get the information that they want. • A central framework or system is necessary to manage church data in more organized and accessible fashion, and more importantly, church members or any individual church groups can have a common platform to enter their data for its own group or individual, this will encourage the free flow of information within the church body and therefore will eventually improve communication. • Other than using more modern technology to improve communication, we strongly feel personal communication is always necessary, this include more combined worship, more combined events (like church picnic), more mixture between Chinese and English members in serving different groups, so thru serving together will enhance understanding, cooperation and relationship, we also paid special attention to the senior that only use phone system as the main tool to communicate. .
Current Status and Activities. • Propose to publish “Church Newsletter” on a monthly basis. • Propose to formulate a standard “Communication Checklist” for any ministries and events • We see a need to advertise our Website http://www.cbchouston.org, more visible to church members. Adding more multi media content to enrich our website. • Propose to acquire Phone Tree system; this tool can immediately help communication with auto-phone plus auto-email system to send voice message in group level, hence can quickly and efficiently send information to a specific group or church wide recipients. • Propose to post more information to our website and encourage members to use it more frequently, but do bear in mind, the website will take time to revolutionize to be more informative. • Propose to post our organization chart on our website, so that we know who and what? • Propose to post sermon audio on our website. (Already active for Chinese sermon) • Propose to improve wireless access to the FLC to allow the projection PC/equipment to get on either the church network or internet. • The prospect to enhance the Church’s network infrastructure. • Propose to install electronic notice board with 50” or 42” LCD or Plasma HDTV that can integrated with computer to serve as a dynamic notice board, so that the flow of information is more alive and interactive in the office area. • We may contact Computer committee, Membership committee and perhaps some of the NTT members to introduce the ICMS solution. • Suggest advertising Event on overhead projector before the worship started. For example, the evangelical event on 9/15 and 9/16 for better cross-congregation communication. • Continue to research on Integrated Church Management System (ICMS), either thru existing software product or look for internal talent to build it. • Endorse Dr. Lawless’s recommendation to set up a permanent Communication Committee to proactively search, coordinate, educate, improve, enhance and achieve better means of communication towards a united congregation for the betterment of the Lord’s work. • Any comment please contact: Raphael Lam; rlam@lgc.com
