MISSION STATEMENT To afford the opportunity for every youth (boy and girl) to learn, play, enjoy and excel at Lacrosse while honoring the game and respecting their coaches, officials, teammates and opponents.
Chesapeake Bandits history • Started in Fall 2005 by Mate Pate • Currently one of 10 “areas” of youth lacrosse in Hampton Roads “HRLax” • HRLax is a chapter of US Lacrosse (the governing body of lacrosse in America) • HRLax includes youth boys, youth girls, high school boys, high school girls and post collegiate • There are nearly 2000 total lacrosse players in Hampton Roads • Youth players range from 5 – 14 • The Bandits feed three Chesapeake high school programs (Grassfield, Hickory, and Great Bridge) • Games span from early March to mid-May. • One of the Fastest growing lacrosse area in Hampton Roads • 2006: approx 15 youth from Chesapeake • 2007: approx 35 youth • 2008: approx 60 youth • 2009: 104 youth • 2010: 138 youth • 2011: 152 youth • 2012: 132 youth, with registrations still incoming • NOTE: numbers are for boys only, 2012 currently has 27 girls youth registered.

COACH CERTIFICATIONS • MUST BE REGISTERED AND PASS BACKGROUND CHECK TO COACH • Each Age Group MUST HAVE a certified Level 1 Coach • Each Coach (Head/Assistant) MUST COMPETE online Level 1 and online/live PCA • MUST BE Credentialed (ID Card) to be on the sidelines of a game • Must take the NHFS Concussion Training

GIRLS Information • Chesapeake is in 4th year of Girls participation • Currently, U9/U11 mix and U13/U15 mix (27 total) • Registration is STILL OPEN! • Please encourage friends/neighbors • Great coaches! • Same practice field as boys
GIRLS RULES • BASIC RULES • U9/U11 – NO Checking • U13/U15 – Modified Check Allowed • Focus on “sphere” and “cross check” • U9/U11 – 20 min halves (running clock) • 7-12 players on field • Increased field size from last year • U13/U15 – 25 min halves (running clock) • 12 players on field • Regulation Field
BOYS RULES • BASIC RULES • U9/U11 – NO BODY-CHECKING, U9 No Long Poles • U13/U15 – CHECKING ALLOWED, but within rules • NO ONE-HAND TOMAHAWK CHECKS • ALL AGES: 4 12-minute quarters (running clock) • SPORTSMANSHIP COORDINATOR • Parent volunteer (each game) • Wear a badge, keep the parent sideline in order • Referees will administer, Coaches will select
