In Greek mythology, there are five rivers that flow through Hades. The Acheron, Cocytus, Phlegethon, Lethe, and the Styx.* In the bible, however, they are representative of the layers of hell. In a nut shell, Macbeth is going to hell. He’s trying to change the fate destined by the three witches and so Hecate decides to step in. She tells them to take Macbeth to the river and escort him to hell. He has already murdered three people and lied to everyone else. Nothing he has done leads me to believe he doesn’t deserve this new fate. My Interpretation
