Introduction • Performance Point is an organizational performance monitoring, analyzing and planning tool • Use to be a separate product but is now including as part of SharePoint 2010 • Performance Point 2010 is made up of: • Service Application • Performance Point Application and basic Web Parts • Requires the SharePoint Enterprise SKU • One click deployment of Dashboard/Scorecards
Business Benefits • Provides Interactive Dimensional Views into Data • Rich drill down/through Silverlight web parts • Increase Individual and Organizational Productivity • Rich controls and features never before seen in SharePoint or previous Performance Point versions • Supports Efficient Business Decisions through Trending Analysis • Time Intelligence provides many wizards for analyzing data based on time
Scorecards • Scorecards are supercharged Dashboards • Dynamic hierarchies with navigation • Drill Down and Drill Up • Dynamic Selections, such as Children and Descendants • KPIs on Columns • Multiple Actual Values • New Time Intelligence Formula Support • Variance • Calculated Metrics
Scorecard Aggregation points • Bringing things together • Content and Data • Content • Spreadsheets, Diagrams, PP Reports, RS Reports, Excel services, etc • Data • Spreadsheets, Lists, Data Warehouse, external data sources
Time Intelligence • A majority of data is relative to some time variable • Time Intelligence involves: • Dissect historic performance • Calculating Year over Year metrics • Analyzing Year to Date performance • Flexible Formulas • To Date function allow performance YTD and create seasonal adjusted metrics
Complex KPIs • SharePoint OOB KPIs are limited to single values from a single data source • Analysis Service MDX queries got very complex • Performance Point provides supercharged KPIs • Can use multiple data sources in the same formula • Can use different data source types in the same formula • Is expressed in simple Excel-like formulas • Supports logic flow • Master Detail displays • Show KPI detail in Excel Services linked control
Metrics features • Calculated metrics • Calculated KPIs • Create KPIs that join data across multiple data sources to generate the metric • Variance metrics • KPIs can have automatic variance calculations displayed for the configured values • Decomposition Tree • Feature from the ProClarity acquisition • Keeps top data at the top as you analysis other parts of a dashboard
Migration • If you used 2007 Performance Point, you will have a migration path to 2010 Performance Point Services • Dashboard and Scorecards can be imported • Done by the Central Admin console • Performance Point Service Application admin page
