Forces of Motion Unit 1 Review and Assessment Lesson 16. Let’s remember what we have learned in this lesson. Watch this video and tell me if this force is a push or a pull. http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVrhWkzmF2w. What force made the swing move?. That’s right! A swing moves with a push.

What about a door? Do you need a push or a pull force to open or close a door?
A door can use both a push or a pull force. Sometimes you might pull a door open and sometimes you might push a door open.
We know that a force like a push or a pull will change the movement and position of objects.
We learned that a hard force can move an object faster than a soft force.
We learned that a hard force can move an object a farther distance than a soft force.
We also learned that weight can affect distance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/6_7/forces_movement.shtml
Also we learned that objects move differently!! Straight zigzag Round and round
Friction: a force that opposes the motion of any object moving on it.
We learned that friction is important and without it we would not be able to walk, write and stop objects.
We also learned the effects friction has on objects such as a pencil when rolled on many surfaces.
Gravity: the force that keeps things from flying off into space.
We learned about gravity. Everything that goes up must come down.
We learned about the law of inertia. We learned that things that are at rest can not move unless a force makes it move. Like the bike laying on the ground, it will not move unless we pick it up and ride it.
We also learned that once an object is in motion it will keep moving until a force stops it. Friction finally will stop the bike if we are not pedaling it.
We also learned that a magnet is one of nature’s greatest mysteries. It has a wonderful kind of power which is almost magical. A magnet can pull things to itself or push things away from itself.
Now it is time to begin our assessment of Unit 1 Forces of Motion. I will read the questions slowly. If you need something repeated please stop the video and replay the section you need repeated.
Pat your back. You just finished Unit 1, Forces of Motion. Great job!
In our next lesson we will begin Unit 2, Earth in our Universe.
