  1. Warm-up: 9/10/13 Suppose J is between H and K. Use the Segment Addition Postulate to solve for x. The find the length of each segment. HJ = 6x-5 JK = 4x-6 KH = 129

  2. Standards: G-CO.1 Know precise definitions of angle, circle, perpendicular line, parallel line, and line segment, based on the undefined notions of point, line, distance along a line, and distance around a circular arc. Objective: Apply the protractor postulate and angle addition postulate to find angle measures. Name angles and classify them according to their measures. Date Explore: With your teams how to Draw an angle with a Protractor. Write out Your own directions on how You constructed it. Construct a 30, 90, and 120 degree angle. Take the 120 degree angle and divide it into two unequal parts using a ray that parts them. Protractor Video Measure both pieces of the angle Separately and label the degrees of each Angle and the whole angle. Describe what you think the Angle Addition Postulate will say.

  3. The Angle Addition Postulate: Angle: is formed by two rays with the same endpoint. The rays are the sides of the angle and the endpoint is called the vertex. Naming Angles: Write down a similarity of all three ways. A C B

  4. Less than 90 degrees 180 degrees Types of Angles: 90 degrees More than 90 degrees

  5. Types of angle pairs:

  6. Name an angle or angles in the diagram described by each of the following. complementary to BOC 2. supplementary to BOC adjacent and congruent to AOC AOB = x + 3, AOC = 2x + 11, BOC = 4x – 7 Solve for x and find All angle measurements

  7. Closure: Compare and Contrast the Segment Addition Postulate And the Angle Addition Postulate. Write down what you discuss. Homework: See hand-out: Segment-Angle worksheet online.
