What is a Flower? The flower is the reproductive unit of some plants. Parts of the flower include petals, sepal, one or more carpel's (the female reproductive organs), and stamens (the male Reproductive organs).
Types of Flowers • Perfect Flower -has both male and female reproductive organs. • Imperfect Flower- has only male reproductive or only female reproductive organs. Some plants have both male and female flowers, while other have males on one plant and females on another. • Complete Flower- has a stamens, a pistil, and sepals. • Incomplete Flowers- lack one of these parts.

Sepal and Petal The sepals protect the flower before it opens. The small leave under the flower. The petals attract pollinating insects with their bright color and attractive scent.
Stamens The stamens are the male part of the flower. •The plant makes pollen in the part of the stamen called the anther. Anther
The Stigma • The stigmas the top of the female part of the flower. • •The pollen from another flower collects on the stigma’s sticky surface.
The Ovary The ovaryprotects the ovules. •Pollentravels to the ovules and fertilization takes place. •Now theovules will develop into seeds. Pollen Style A tube on top of the ovary. Another female part of the flower. This is the long stalk that supports the stigma.
Filament Holds the anther. Peduncle A stalk bearing the flower(Stem)
Calyx The sepals of a flower considered as a group.
Female Reproductive Organs The female part called the pistil.
Male Reproductive Organs The main flower parts are the male part called the stamen.
