  2. Divergent is about a girl named Beatrice who lives in the Abnegation compound. She’s not happy being a ‘stiff’, so on her Choosing Day, she transfers factions. As a Dauntless, Beatrice- now called Tris- feels as though she fits in.

  3. THE FACTIONS • In a futuristic Chicago, the city has been divided into 5 factions, based on beliefs • Abnegation • Dauntless • Erudite • Amity • Candor • Each faction has a main belief (i.e. Abnegation- The Selfless)

  4. ABNEGATIONThe Selfless Abnegation’s main focus is selflessness, something Tris never really had The people of Abnegation belive selfish people are to blame for the world’s problems This was one of Tris’ possible factions

  5. DAUTNLESSThe Brave Dauntless’ main focus is bravery The people of Dauntless belive that cowardice is to blame for the world’s problems This is the faction Tris transfers to

  6. CANDORThe Honest Candor’s main focus is honesty. The people of Candor belive dishonesty is to blame for the world’s problems This faction was ruled out during Tris’ simulation

  7. AMITYThe Peaceful Amity’s main focus is peace The people of Amity belive that argument is to blame for the world’s problems This faction was ruled out during Tris’ simulation

  8. ERUDITEThe Intelligent Erudite’s main focus is intelligence The people or Erudite blame stupidity on the world’s problems This was ruled out of Tris’ simulation, but her brother, Caleb, transferred to this faction
