  1. SCT Macro-Assembly Status and Plans • One-line summary - everything is delayed... • Macro-Assembly will not start before 2003 • Barrel 3 at Oxford is still the first to begin assembly. • Other main development at present is in SR1 building at CERN SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  2. Oxford status • Robot for module mounting under development • basic movements programmed • sequences for mounting need developing • Cooling - system due to be commissioned at Oxford in September/October • Power supplies - expected on similar timeframe • During summer - develop module mounting and removal techniques using sector prototype. • Intend to finalise all procedures by end of 2002. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  3. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  4. SR1 building status • Located on surface of ATLAS pit • Individual SCT barrels and endcaps will be brought together here to make the final SCT detector • Also building where TRT and Pixel will be completed, and then Inner Detector from SCT/TRT/Pixel components. • Currently preparing infrastructure in building • physical rack layout • electricity distribution • LAN • gas • Medium-term schedule for SCT - see next 2 slides from Heinz’s talk at Valencia SCT Week. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  5. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  6. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  7. ROD Systems plan • From slide presented by Janet Carter at Valencia (with a few tweaks...) • Not formally agreed, but best working plan we have. • Does agree reasonably well with schedules from Oxford and SR1. • Now • 1 system at Cambridge (ROD+BOC+TIM+SBC) for development and test on small number of modules (exists) • 3 RODs in US for development work (exist) • 1 system at CERN for DAQ software development (old ROD+TIM+SBC - upgrade to better ROD when possible • End September • Target date for availability of software for user interface for reading out 10s of modules. SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  8. At this point (i.e. beginning of October): • System at Cambridge could evaluate up to 6 modules in Long Term Tests • A new system goes to Oxford (1 ROD+BOC+TIM+SBC) for their learning process for testing during assembly (just a few modules - crate exists) • A new system goes to RAL (or Oxford) for ROD user evaluation (1 ROD+BOC+TIM+SBC) fully populated for 48 modules readout (there is probably a 9U crate available for this) • End of 2002 • Software available that can cope with >500 modules • Add 2 more RODs+BOCs to Oxford system SCT/Pixel RODDAQ Workshop

  9. 2003 • Continue to set up systems for SCT assembly and integration • Liverpool (3 ROD+BOCs + TIM+SBC) (SBC from Institute) • NIKHEF (2 ROD+BOCs + TIM+SBC) (SBC from Institute) • KEK (? ROD+BOCs +TIM+SBC) (SBC from Institute) • Upgrade Oxford system to 8 RODs • Upgrade Liverpool system to 6 RODs • Upgrade Oxford system to 14 RODs • Upgrade CERN system to 8 RODs • Upgrade NIKHEF system to 3 RODs Note that this list is chronological (hence the multiple entries for some Institutes), but the exact timings have been deliberately left out.
