College Clothes Thongs, belly rings, various body piercings, tattoos, naked midriffs and/or lower backs, low-rider jeans, jeans in general, mini skirts, tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, pants held up by belts and/or suspenders with the crotch at the knee, oversized shirts not tucked into pants, flapping belts, T-Shirts advertising alcohol, music, sex, drugs, blouses and shirts with body parts bulging out, any outfit with body parts visible through the fabric, multi-colored hair, tight-fitting and revealing anything. Dates for Student Teaching Student teachers who are placed outside f KSU’s partnership school systems will begin on January 10th an end after the 75th day of student teaching. Students will take their school system’s Spring Break NOT KSU’s.
Dates for Student Teaching Regular attendance and punctuality are critical. STs will follow the calendar of the school. In the event of an absence, you must notify your CT and your US. Some absences will need to be made up. STs will follow the daily faculty schedule and comply with requests from CT. STs must participate in any school event required of their CTs (faculty mtgs, PTSA mtgs, etc)
Dates for Student Teaching The ONLY exception to these dates: If you obtain a teaching job, you may request early release. However, you cannot be released from student teaching for employment any earlier than seven school days prior to and counting the last date of student teaching. See form for Early Release on CEPP website.
Dates for Student Teaching Okay, there is ONE more exception: If you are teaching in Atlanta Public Schools, they are holding a Pre-Service Teacher Informational Meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 9-12. With the permission of your CT and US, APS interns may attend this meeting. Please notify them well in advance. Our office will e-mail you a flyer with the address.

THE 3 P’s OF FIELD EXPERIENCE • PROMPT • Arrive on time to your school site every day. • Notify the school, your CT and your supervisor if you are going to be absent.
THE 3 P’s OF FIELD EXPERIENCE • PROFESSIONAL : DRESS • No mini skirts • No cleavage • No jeans • No heavy make up • No facial jewelry • No visible tattoos • No visible undergarments
THE 3 P’s OF FIELD EXPERIENCE • PROFESSIONAL: CONDUCT • Cell phones off & out of sight • No food or drink during class time • No personal interaction with students out of school • Take good care of and return supplies • BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS AT ALL times-remember you are a GUEST.
THE 3 P’s OF FIELD EXPERIENCE • PREPARED • Take the Collaborating Teacher Packet to your mentor on your first day • Create fully developed lesson plans including handouts, supplies, room arrangements, smooth transitions, group work arrangements, etc. • Wear your TEACHER CANDIDATE ID at all times

Tips from Dr. Vásquez • Some tips to make your experience wonderful • Organize your room for teaching before you leave each day • On the weekends get your work out of the way Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, so you can enjoy your weekend • Plan in chunks of time rather than day to day (UbD) • Arrive at least 30-minutes before you need to be present • Make any Xerox copies three days in advance • Reserve time to RECHARGE
